Somatic Therapy Intensives for Teens & Adults
What you’ve been through may have left you feeling exhausted, disconnected from yourself, and stuck in survival mode. You may struggle with your self-worth, feel disconnected from your body and emotions, and have difficulty trusting yourself.
Maybe you know how to understand your experiences intellectually, but you still don't feel different. You may find yourself constantly questioning yourself, second-guessing your decisions, struggling to trust your instincts, or feeling disconnected from what you actually want and need.
You’ve learned to ignore your emotions, push through discomfort, make yourself smaller, or prioritize everyone else's needs before your own. And underneath it all, there may be a quiet feeling that you're not enough. These patterns aren't character flaws. They can be ways your mind and body learned to protect you through difficult experiences.
You don't have to spend the rest of your life feeling disconnected from yourself.
Somatic Therapy Intensives in San Diego give you the space to slow down, move beyond simply talking about your experiences, and begin exploring what’s happening beneath the surface.
Over the course of 1–3 days, we can focus more deeply on the connection between your trauma, nervous system, emotions, body, and sense of self. Through EMDR and somatic therapy, we’ll gently work with unresolved trauma and the patterns that may be keeping you stuck in survival mode.
Rather than fitting your healing into a one-hour session each week, an intensive gives you dedicated time to process, reconnect with your body and emotions, and develop a deeper sense of safety and connection with yourself.
The goal isn’t to force you to relive your past or rush your healing; it’s to create the space and support you need to begin feeling more like your authentic self.
What is Somatic Therapy?
The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma, which means body. Somatic therapy is a body-based approach to psychotherapy that recognizes that our experiences don't only affect our thoughts. Stress and trauma can also influence the way we breathe, move, hold tension, respond to situations, experience emotions, and relate to our bodies.
Instead of only talking about what you're thinking or feeling, we pay attention to what is happening inside your body. You might begin to notice:
Where you feel anxiety, shame, fear, or anger in your body
When you tense, freeze, shut down, or disconnect
What happens in your body when you people please or try to set a boundary
How your body responds when you feel seen, safe, or supported
The physical sensations that accompany certain thoughts, memories, or beliefs about yourself
Your body can give us information that words sometimes can't. Somatic therapy helps us slow down enough to listen to that information, build greater awareness of your internal experience, and gently work with the patterns that developed in response to stress and trauma.
Benefits of Somatic Therapy Intensives in San Diego
Efficient and Accelerated Progress: Therapy Intensives offer a concentrated and focused approach to healing, allowing you to make significant progress in a shorter period. If you're looking to address specific issues and experience breakthroughs more rapidly, an intensive format provides an efficient alternative to traditional weekly sessions.
Deep Dive into Core Issues: Traditional therapy might touch the surface of your challenges, but intensive sessions allow for a deeper exploration of core issues and allow your nervous system to feel safe again. Oftentimes, trauma and negative core beliefs are the root cause of emotional dysregulation and maladaptive behaviors that show up in our daily lives. Our Somatic Therapy Intensives in San Diego allow your body to release stored trauma. With extended time, you can safely unravel complex emotions, delve into trauma, and work towards healing.
Flexibility for Busy Lifestyles: If you have a hectic schedule, committing to weekly therapy sessions might be challenging. Therapy Intensives provide flexibility, allowing you to carve out dedicated blocks of time for healing without the long-term commitment of regular appointments.
Your Own Personal Therapy Retreat
Think of an intensive as a personal therapy retreat created just for you.
Instead of trying to fit everything into a 50-60 minute session each week, you have dedicated time and space to slow down and focus on what you need. You receive undivided attention and care throughout the intensive, allowing us to work at a pace that feels supportive rather than rushed. There is room to pause, take breaks, notice what your body is communicating, process what comes up, and let the work unfold naturally.
Somatic Therapy Intensives provide an opportunity to step away from the noise and demands of everyday life and create space for yourself, your healing, and your relationship with your body. And just like a retreat, you don't have to arrive with everything figured out; you simply show up just as you are.

We take a holistic, nervous system-centered approach to healing by integrating EMDR and somatic therapy to help you process unresolved trauma, reconnect with your body, and create lasting emotional change. These body-based therapy modalities are the leading evidence-based treatments for trauma and PTSD, while somatic therapy specifically helps address the ways stress and trauma become stored within the body and nervous system.
Our personalized Trauma Therapy Intensives can support healing from:
Low Self-Esteem & Negative Self-Talk
Creative Blocks & Feeling Stuck
Nervous System Dysregulation
Every intensive is thoughtfully tailored to your unique goals, experiences, and capacity. We create a supportive space where you can slow down, process deeply, and reconnect with yourself in a way that often isn’t possible in traditional weekly therapy.
How Will I Feel After Doing a Somatic Therapy Intensive?
You'll leave with a deeper understanding of yourself and your nervous system, along with practical tools you can continue incorporating into everyday life. You’ll also leave with:
A better understanding of your body
You'll learn to recognize the physical signals that often come before overwhelm, anxiety, shutdown, or disconnection.
A new understanding of your stress responses
Instead of seeing fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses as something wrong with you, you'll begin understanding them as protective responses.
More emotional awareness
You'll have more language and awareness around what you're feeling and where you feel it in your body.
Body-based tools that actually feel doable
Rather than collecting a long list of coping skills, we'll identify practices that genuinely work for you.
More self-compassion
You may begin replacing judgment and frustration with curiosity about why you respond the way you do.
A stronger connection with yourself
Your body can become something you listen to rather than something you feel disconnected from or frustrated with.

Research shows that intensives are a safe and effective treatment option for PTSD and complex trauma. Many clients experience significant symptom reduction in a shorter period of time compared to traditional weekly therapy, while achieving similar or even better results.
The intensive format allows clients to stay immersed in the healing process without the interruptions that can occur between weekly sessions. This focused approach may also reduce the likelihood of clients dropping out of treatment before reaching their goals.
Intensives can be an efficient use of both time and resources. With less time spent on weekly check-ins, addressing day-to-day stressors, and reorienting to the therapeutic process, more time can be dedicated to processing and healing the root causes of distress.
-
