When we lived in Greensboro, NC, we had the pleasure of providing Walk & Talk Therapy sessions to many of our clients at local Greensboro parks. Through these outdoor sessions, we saw our clients work through difficult emotions and process symptoms of anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Prior to starting Walk & Talk Therapy, your intake session (first session), will take place in our Honolulu office or via teletherapy. During this first session, we’ll get to know you and discuss more logistics about Walk & Talk Therapy. After a conversation about logistics, you can then decide if you’d like your next session to be a Walk & Talk Therapy session.

You may prefer Walk & Talk Therapy if you want the same benefits of a traditional office or virtual therapy session, but you want a more relaxed approach to therapy.

You are welcome to try a Walk & Talk Therapy session and if you decide you’d rather be in an office setting or do virtual sessions from your home that’s okay too. You have the flexibility to choose which session type might work best for you!

On the day of your Walk & Talk Therapy session, we’ll plan to meet you at Ala Moana Regional Park or the Kaka’ako Waterfront. Once you arrive at the park, there is a large parking lot with plenty of free parking. You can park anywhere you’d like, and we’ll meet at our agreed-upon location at the park.

From there, we’ll walk together and explore Ala Moana Park or the Kaka’ako Waterfront.

The park offers multiple walkways, a large diversity of trees, stunning views of the ocean, and a beach where we can walk barefoot in the sand. There are also many benches along the walking paths if you prefer to stop and rest.

During our time together, we’ll begin to process your thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. We may also discuss coping skills, how to set boundaries, how to process emotions in a healthy way, explore various mindfulness techniques, and review effective communication skills. We’ll explore topics and mental health tools that we would cover in traditional in-office or virtual therapy sessions.

After your Walk & Talk Therapy session, you can expect to have a deeper understanding of your past experiences, new solutions to your problems, greater self-awareness, and a better sense of direction for your future!
